What Can $1 Do?
To most Americans, a dollar is literally a drop in the bucket and something we don’t even stop to consider. However, the same dollar can literally change lives around the world.
In fact, the U.N. defines extreme poverty as living on less than $1 a day. Today, the World Bank estimates that more than a billion people – that’s 1,000,000,000 people – live on less than $1 a day. That’s an easy number to just skim over and forget, but each of those 1,000,000,000 people is an individual living in unimaginable conditions and poverty.
So what can $1 do?
According to Living Water International, $1 provides clean water for one person for one year. (And they’ve done the math too.)
How often do we buy 16 oz. bottles of water for more than that?
If you come across other statistics about what $1 can do, I’d love to add them to this page as well.
