When I first heard about the One Dollar Give, I knew I wanted to do something to support our military families. Between Iraq and Afghanistan, they’ve been busy and overworked for the last several years. In Oregon, where I’m from, it seems the National Guard is deployed every couple of years to offer relief to full-time military members overseas.

That’s why I chose the Fisher House Foundation. When members of the armed forces are injured in the line of duty, they receive treatment at military hospitals, often far from home and loved ones.

The Fisher House Foundation provides housing for families of military members receiving treatment. Thanks to the Fisher House foundation, “comfort homes” have been constructed on the grounds of every major military medical center, so families have a place to stay near the medical centers.

There is no charge for the families of our military to use the facilities, and over 10,000 families have benefited from the program since it’s inception in 1990.

Your donation will help construct additional comfort houses and help the current comfort houses continue to provide lodging for family members of sick and injured military personnel.

Will you join me in donating $1 to the Fisher House Foundation, so we can ease the stress of military personnel and their families at a difficult time?

(Yes, the poll offers you the choice between “Yes.” and “Yes.” because I didn’t think we really needed to count the “No” answers, and the poll required two choices! Hey, it’s not a perfect system, but it’ll work!)
