Day 13, Project Peanut Butter

As one of the creators of The One Dollar Give, I’m excited to introduce my favorite charity below. When I’m not scrubbing crayon, marker, or any other number of marks off the walls, I can also be found blogging at Deal Seeking Mom, where I share “real deals for real moms”.

I first learned about Project Peanut Butter when Colleen of Classy Mommy introduced me to them. She’s been a long-time contributor and thought they would be the perfect charity for our Blog Action Day project with Walmart back in October. I’m so glad she did, because I think they’re a wonderful organization.

Project Peanut Butter is a worthy cause that provides malnourished children in Malawi and Sierra Leone with a ready-to-use therapeutic food (RUTF) made from peanuts. RUTF is similar to peanut butter in consistency, but it has added vitamins and minerals among other ingredients to effectively treat malnourishment.

PPB distributes their RUTF to rural villages in Malawi and Sierra Leone. This fascinating program was named the most effective method by which to treat severely malnourished children and has been shown to result in up to an amazing 95% recovery rate for participating children.

Thousands of children have been saved by this revolutionary product, and with your assistance, we can ensure that thousands more have the same opportunity. Likely most of you have never felt the kind of hunger that these children must endure on a daily basis. I know haven’t, but as a mother of five, my heart aches for these little ones as if they were my own.

Surely $1 today is not too much to ask of you today if it means saving a small life.

(Yes, the poll offers you the choice between “Yes.” and “Yes.” because I didn’t think we really needed to count the “No” answers, and the poll required two choices! Hey, it’s not a perfect system, but it’ll work!)
