I am so excited to share an amazing ministry with you today, which is Target Dayton.

Target Dayton is a meal and church ministry for the homeless. Target Dayton is not a homeless shelter. It is an actual church for the poor and homeless living in Dayton, Ohio. The ministry’s mission is “to reach the poor and homeless with the love and grace of Christ, that they might find the hope and salvation that can only be found in Him“.

Target Dayton holds several meal and church services each week. There is also a fun movie night where guests get to relax and enjoy a movie that provides an inspirational message along with refreshments. Ministry partners, some who were previously homeless, drive to the local shelters offering any interested people a ride to partake in the ministerial sevices.

I first became aware of this amazing ministry when we moved to our current hometown. Target Dayton is part of Nazarene Compassionate Ministries and our church provides financial giving to support this ministry. However, my true connection and desire to make a difference with this ministry was not because of what I could do for them but what they did for me that day!

Target Dayton has an amazing choir that consists mostly of people who either are or have been poor and homeless. Our church was blessed to have the choir visit us to provide a ministry with their amazing and talented voices! We heard the beautiful music they shared, but also the personal testimonies of the choir members. These choir members have been to the depths that seem unfathomable to so many. Yet, each member has an amazing outlook on life and wants to share the gospel, and give as much as they can! Since hearing the wonderful Target Dayton choir minister to my soul, I have been a supporter ever since in several ways: donations, time, and prayer.

Target Dayton can feed four people on just $10! And, not only do they want to feed those they minister to, but they are looking to provide some warmth in a tangible way too. The harsh, cold weather is upon us in Ohio, and Target Dayton wants to provide a way to help those whom attend services to stay warm and be a witness. They are seeking financial donations to provide sweatshirts with the Target Dayton logo. One sweatshirt will cost $15, and I’m told they are thick and durable. This sweatshirt will provide a homeless person some warmth during the bitter cold, and possibly spark conversation to others who see the sweatshirt’s logo. Those recipients have the potential to be a witness, sitting right in a homeless shelter.

If you would like to experience one of the amazing songs I have been blessed to hear, please listen to the video below. This song is a great representation of the life many people possess without the hope of God. With the efforts of Target Dayton, and your financial support, they are able to share that no one is an “orphan of God.”

(Yes, the poll offers you the choice between “Yes.” and “Yes.” because I didn’t think we really needed to count the “No” answers, and the poll required two choices! Hey, it’s not a perfect system, but it’ll work!)
