As we approached the 2008 holiday season, we became more and more acutely aware of the amount of need that exists around each us. While many of us are feeling the effects of the downturn in the economy, there are millions of people around the world, many even in our own country, who don’t have enough food or enough money to heat their homes, and in the poorer nations of the world, these people don’t even have clean water or access to basic or emergency healthcare.

The One Dollar Give is a campaign to change the world one life at a time. Last December we featured a different charity each day and asked participants to donate just $1 to each one. Our hope was that we would be able to make a significant impact together and provide the funds for some awesome charities to do more of what they do every day.

In 2009, we hope to bring people together for one day — on December 1st — as part of The One Dollar Give. We realize that a month-long campaign is a huge commitment, especially for people who are already giving in other areas, and so we will be focusing on just one charity, Feeding America, on December 1st in order to have the greatest impact.

Our hope continues to be that this campaign will introduce you to some really great charities, and that you’ll each find one your passionate about to continue giving to on a regular basis.
